Look Child

Please child, take my hand. I have something to show you.
I want to show you all that I have in store for you.
Look child, there you are in the arms of your mother.
Look at the love in her eyes.
Now you are in the arms of your father, look at how he smile upon his sweet daughter.
Look now you are older, you are tearing the books off the shelves.
Your mother is angry and puts you in the “naughty chair.”
You don’t know what you did to make her so angry, for you were just following her example,
You were just trying to read.
Look child, look at you now.
There you are impatiently sitting in your seat.
Now look at you a few years later, you are attentively listening and trying to learn.
You have learned so much in those 12 short years.
Once you were bald, short and had chubby little baby fat.
Now you are growing fast, you are no longer a child, but becoming a woman.
Once you were blindly lead, now you go where you think is best.
But child, you are still young, not quite a woman. You still have so much to learn,
So much to do,
So much to see.
Look child, you are crying, no one can hear you but me.
Child you are learning, learning just how hard life can be.
Look child, look at that smile on that beautiful face.
Look you are helping your mother.
Helping her in the smallest ways, and you do it with a radiant smile upon your face.
Look child, look at who you are helping.
You are helping those you can’t see.
Look you are sharing your testimony, sharing with someone the Light of Christ.
Look you are helping those children, helping to choose the right.
Look child, look at that young man.
Look at how he serves the people around him.
Look at how you both glow when your eyes meet.
But wait child, you are both still so young.
You both still have so much to do.
You are not meant for him, nor him for you.
Be patient dear child, your man will come.
But not now, not yet.
Look child, look at you laughing, laughing with your dear friends.
You are now all older, and have chosen different paths, but you still love eachother.
Look child, look you are studying, you are learning more than ever before.
You miss your home, but you know that this is what you need to do.
Look child, you are crying for joy!
Your waiting has paid off at last.
You have found your man, and you will be married soon in the house of the Lord.
Look at the light in your eyes as you kneel across the altar from him.
Your family is all around you.
This is the best day in your life.
This is the start of a new day, a new beginning.
Look child, look at the love in your eyes.
Look at your face as you watch your husband hold your new daughter.
Look how he smiles upon his sweet daughter.
You know that once, that was you, and you know that someday she will be like you.
You know that I have great things in store for her too.
